United Risk Management, Inc. began as a small personal lines agency in 1993. Since then, we have grown into a major Property and Casualty agency serving the needs of both businesses and individuals.

Our expertise in insuring businesses spans a wide range of industries including virtually all types of real estate projects and facilities, general and specialty contractors, nearly all types of retail, dining establishments, taverns, and more.

As a result of the volume of business we place, we have a strong relationship with major carriers in the areas in which we specialize.

In addition, we participate in a variety of purchasing groups which provide us with access to insurance coverage with broad terms and conditions at competitive premiums.

We have you covered in NY, NJ and many other states While headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, many of our clients have viewed New Jersey as an untapped frontier for expansion, and have directed considerable new investment to the state.

In order to meet their insurance needs, we have followed them there, and developed considerable expertise in the NJ insurance market. Over the years, our presence in NJ has grown, and we have opened a satellite sales office in the state.

Our Principal

The founder and principal of our agency is Barry Grunfeld. Barry has been in the insurance field for over 25 years, working with both businesses and individuals, and is well known in the industry. Underwriting:

Our underwriting team has a vast amount of experience in analyzing and marketing new and existing business. They will analyze your risk to determine which carriers can offer you the most comprehensive coverage at the most competitive price.

Our Principal, Barry Grunfeld, is very much involved in this process, guiding and motivating the unit to get the best results for each of our clients.

Customer Service Unit:

This unit is responsible to see that all of our clients' needs are met in a timely manner.

This includes changes in coverage such as changes in policy limits, adding or removing locations, and requests for certificates of insurance.

They will also assist our underwriting unit with renewals prior to the end of your policy term. Please note coverage cannot be bound via e mail or voice mail.

Claims Unit:

Claims handling is a highly specialized field. The claims examiner has to be familiar with the policy's terms and conditions to ensure the successful execution of a claim. We at United Risk Management take pride in our track record in getting claims settled fairly and quickly.

Renewals

We never take our clients for granted at renewal time. We consider every renewal as if it were new business to our office. We carefully review your policy in view of your current needs, and check the market to ensure that you are receiving the proper coverage with the most competitive pricing. As a result, our client retention ratio is very high.

Accounting:

Insurance agents have a fiduciary responsibility to make sure that insurance premiums collected from our clients are submitted to the carriers on a timely basis. We employ a computerized accounting system to help ensure that your payments are submitted correctly and on time.



When you have a claim

Our claims department is available to assist you in the event of a loss. Please report a claim or incident as soon as you are aware anything that might turn into an insurance claim, and be prepared to provide as much detail as possible. Do not wait until you receive a notice or a summons from a third party or their attorney. Failure to report an incident in a timely manner could result in a denial of a claim. Many of our carriers offer claim reporting on their website, or you can call us at (718) 387-3031 and ask for a claims representative.

If this is a property claim, take immediate steps to secure the property against further damages. If you have a potential liability claim, never discuss it before you consult with us or an attorney appointed by the insurance carrier. Remember, claims may not be reported via e-mail or voice mail.
